| Morrisons, Somerfields, Boots, WH Smith, Woolworths, Burtons, Argos, and a variety of small shops, plus all of the major banks/building societies | ||

Carlisle (20 miles up the M6 from Penrith, 33 miles from here) |
| Quite a good city centre for general shopping – many of the major chains can be found here as well as some nice smaller local places | ||
| Also has a Castle to visit, several cinemas, ‘10-pin Bowling’ and ‘Laser Quest’ (whatever that is?) | ||
Ambleside & Windermere (8 & 11 miles over Kirkstone Pass – follow signposts at top) |
| A bit touristy over there, can be difficult to park – but there are a variety of eateries and shops that will keep you occupied if you’re that way inclined | ||
| Cinemas in both. Zeferrellis at Ambleside does a great cinema ‘meal deal’. | ||
| It’s quite pretty as well, we suppose…. but not a patch on here! No siree. | ||
