Shopping Centres Penrith, Carlisle, Ambleside & Windermere	Opening times vary according to season.
Penrith (north along the A592, 13 miles) Morrisons, Somerfields, Boots, WH Smith, Woolworths, Burtons, Argos, and a variety of small shops, plus all of the major banks/building societies Alhambra "Twin Screen" Cinema – not quite a multiplex, but they try their best, bless them…
Carlisle (20 miles up the M6 from Penrith, 33 miles from here)

Quite a good city centre for general shopping – many of the major chains can be found here as well as some nice smaller local places
Also has a Castle to visit, several cinemas, "10-pin Bowling" and "Laser Quest" (whatever that is?)
Keswick (16 miles through Dockray and Matterdale)
Popular tourist centre both in the town centre dominated by the Moot Hall and the Lake Shore with it's "Theatre by the Lake".
Ambleside & Windermere (8 & 11 miles over Kirkstone Pass – follow signposts at top)
A bit touristy over there, can be difficult to park – but there are a variety of eateries and shops that will keep you occupied if you’re that way inclined
Cinemas in both. Zeferrellis at Ambleside does a great cinema "meal deal’.
It’s quite pretty as well, we suppose…. but not a patch on here! No siree.
